İlker Canbulat is a Cypriot painter who interprets the history of Cyprus, abandoned places, lived experiences and human stories through a contemporary visual language.

Born on 12 April 1957 in Küçük Kaymaklı, Cyprus, İlker Canbulat began drawing in the newspaper office where his father worked. He studied economics at Adana I.T.I. Academy in 1975, returned to Cyprus in 1976 and continued at the Atatürk Teacher Training Academy. After a long pause he returned to painting in 2023, opening two solo exhibitions and participating in numerous group exhibitions.

“I reflect traces of children, places and time on canvas. Each work invites the viewer on an emotional journey between past and present.”
